Leipzig/Halle Airport is one of the oldest airports in Germany. It began operations on April 25, 1927, under the name Halle/Leipzig Airport. Hans-Dieter Tack, deputy chairman of the Society for the Preservation of Sites of German Aviation History, documents the eventful history of this significant aviation location between 1910 and 2009 with over 220 mostly unpublished, some in color, images. He describes how civil air traffic developed in Halle/Leipzig during the 1920s.
