Product details

Leipzig/Halle Airport is one of the oldest airports in Germany. It began operations on April 25, 1927, under the name Halle/Leipzig Airport. Hans-Dieter Tack, deputy chairman of the Society for the Preservation of Sites of German Aviation History, documents the eventful history of this significant aviation location between 1910 and 2009 with over 220 mostly unpublished, some in color, images. He describes how civil air traffic developed in Halle/Leipzig during the 1920s. Impressive photos of the Lufthansa workshops, which have been operating at the site since 1929, testify to aircraft construction in Halle/Leipzig, which increasingly took on a military character from the mid-1930s and was later continued for civilian purposes in the GDR after war and destruction. Unique images provide insight into the M.
