Product details

Following the great success of the historical picture book "Fulda," Thomas Heiler and Beate Kann present the long-awaited continuation. Around 200 mostly unpublished photographs from the city archive document not only the architectural changes in Fulda between 1945 and 1970 but also provide many interesting insights into the daily lives and work of the people. The construction of apartments, schools, and wide streets, as well as the demolition of old buildings in favor of modernity, significantly altered the cityscape. However, despite all the innovations, Fulda's rich historical heritage prevented it from becoming devoid of history and character. Numerous photographs from the grand Boniface Jubilee in 1954 clearly illustrate this. Major events such as the inaugurations of schools and shopping centers, the establishment of partnerships with Arles and Como, or receptions for Konrad Adenauer and Theodor are also featured.
