Heavily destroyed in the war, the "new Koblenz" differs significantly from the city of earlier generations. Fortunately, many historical photos have been preserved, documenting and reconstructing buildings, streets, and life in the former capital of the Prussian Rhine Province. This photo book, featuring around 200 images, primarily covers the period from 1890 to the 1950s. In all cases, Koblenz journalist and publisher Reinhard Kallenbach was able to draw on the rich resources of the Koblenz city archive, which includes several thousand photographs. This small documentation, with its explanatory accompanying texts, is likely to fascinate both younger and older residents of Koblenz alike, as it reflects a city whose memory is gradually fading.
