After the great success of the historical picture book "Leuna. Life Between Factory and Garden City 1916-1945," Jana Lehmann and Marion Schatz now present the eagerly awaited continuation. Leuna was the largest chemical complex in the GDR and, with the establishment of Plant II in 1959, the first petrochemical center in the country. Around 30,000 people worked here, producing hundreds of different products, from fuel to pharmaceuticals. However, the chemical giant of the republic was not just a workplace - with its railway network and social and supply facilities, it already formed a small town. The cultural center and sports club in the immediate vicinity of the factory offered employees various opportunities for leisure activities.
