Volkach is today widely known as a wine town on the Main loop. Since the regional reform in the 1970s, numerous smaller places have also contributed to the cultural enrichment: the picturesque Obervolkach, the villages of Fahr and Astheim with their fruit orchards, Krautheim with its long-established brewery, the villages of Rimbach, Gaibach, and Eichfeld with their noble heritage, the wine village of Escherndorf with its small charcoal burner, and the pilgrimage site of Dimbach. With over 200 mostly unpublished photographs, city guide Christa Volk and city archivist Ute Feuerbach document life in the flourishing Franconian town and its districts between 1900 and 1970. The images, selected from the city archive and private photo albums, bring the former everyday life of the people at the Volkach Main loop back to life. They show the residents at work.
