Product details

The northernmost town in the Heinsberg district has a history spanning over a thousand years. However, Wegberg, as we know it today, was only established with the municipal reorganization in 1972. A year later, the new municipality was elevated to city status. Wegberg gained regional fame through the Grenzlandring, where motorsport races were held from 1948 to 1952. Over 200 mostly unpublished historical photographs document the development of Wegberg and its 40 localities from 1900 to the 1970s. The vivid images primarily depict the everyday lives of the people. They illustrate the working world, church and school life, traditions, clubs, individuals, and notable personalities. The three authors, Dietmar Schmitz, Klaus Bürger, and Rita Körner, are dedicated members of the Historical Society of Wegberg.
