Product details
Around 1900, Barmen was considered one of the most flourishing industrial cities and trading places in the German Empire. The steep rise in population and prosperity was reflected in ambitious urban planning measures and infrastructural projects: Until a few years ago, Barmen, with its two railway lines, electric tram, suspension railway, and cogwheel railway—all pioneering achievements of the late 19th century—was a paradise for transportation enthusiasts. Following the successful volume on Elberfeld, Wuppertal collector Gerd Magner once again opens his cabinets, the treasures of which will be presented to the public by his son. Over 200 images showcase the development of the city from 1880 to 1950 and the lives of its residents.
