Product details

Between Achterwasser and the Pomeranian Bay lies one of the sunniest places in Germany, Zinnowitz, in the north of Usedom Island. During the GDR era, this seaside resort, which had already been popular before World War II, became the most important bathing spot for the holiday service of SDAG Wismut. Properties that had been transferred to public ownership during the Rose Action, as well as newly constructed buildings, were intended to make Zinnowitz primarily an oasis of relaxation for miners. Ute Spohler, a native of Zinnowitz and an active member of the Historical Society of Zinnowitz, documents life in the Baltic seaside resort between 1945 and 1989 with 224 photos. The photos come from the archives of Foto-Adrion, the Historical Society of Zinnowitz, and many locals. They depict the people who worked and lived here, scenes from nurseries, kindergartens, and schools, as well as sports activities.
