This book compares the Austrian Registered Partnership Act with the German Life Partnership Act. Beginning with a legal historical overview of same-sex love, it provides insight into the decriminalization of homosexuality. The focus then shifts to custody law and so-called rainbow families. The main question is whether the Registered Partnership Act leads to further discrimination based on sexual orientation and to what extent these could be eliminated through reforms. By comparing the German Life Partnership Act and the Austrian Registered Partnership Act, the book aims to highlight the discrimination potential of the Registered Partnership Act and suggest possible improvements based on the German legal framework.
