Ruth and her husband Markus travel to Nicaragua in 1984 as brigadistas. Convicted by the ideals of the revolution, the couple tirelessly fights for social justice. Under the most difficult conditions, they try to build a new Nicaragua. However, the political situation continually escalates and becomes life-threatening for everyone involved due to the attacks by the Contras. Thirty years later, Ruth's daughters Alma and Judith learn about their parents' commitment. They embark on a journey as tourists to trace their parents' footsteps in Nicaragua, hoping to find answers to newly raised questions. But suddenly, unexpected abysses open up, and certainties begin to waver.
