Abstract: In companies engaged in discrete series production, systems with varying degrees of integration are utilized throughout the Product Lifecycle (PLC). For example, CAx systems (e.g., CAD, EDM, PDM) within product development or ERP systems within production exhibit a very high degree of integration. Currently, there is a heterogeneous system landscape within process planning. The process planning systems in use have their justification, as they are optimized for specific tasks (e.g., planning manufacturing times - Methods-Time Measurement (MTM), pacing, layout planning). Often, there are no direct interfaces between these systems, and they manage their data in different ways.
