Product details

Simon Weingarten describes the development of particle detectors for an upgrade project of the trigger system in the CMS experiment. Based on fast plastic scintillators and silicon photomultipliers (SiPM), the author develops a new muon detector that combines a high detection probability with great signal purity. The influence of various module parameters, such as the optical coupling between the scintillator and SiPM or the use of reflective scintillator wraps, is systematically investigated.
