Product details

Since its beginnings in the 1980s, Jörg Sasse (born 1962) has progressively subjected his work with and on the photographic image to a radical reorientation. After initial still lifes—colorful and compositionally brilliant arrangements of trivial objects in extreme close-up, glimpses into everyday living environments in image sections that play as cleverly as they do ironically with the documentary and aesthetic potential of the photographic image—he turned to exploring the possibilities of digital manipulation in the early 1990s. The source material for his computer edits consists of completely ordinary photos, which do not necessarily originate from him. Most often, these are found, collected amateur shots—snapshots, landscapes, architecture—from which he digitally derives so-called sketches, a further intermediate stage on the way.
