The Elephant Behind the Clown. The artist, born in Tel Aviv in 1967 and now living in Copenhagen, has become famous for his seemingly naively painted abstractions, in which some viewers have playfully detected visual goulash or simply celebrated the long-dead values of artistic expression and its autonomy. In addition to a simple abstraction of figurative signs, the strong colors, applied through a strictly selected palette, particularly stood out. The paintings impressed with their calculated and vibrant radiance. For some time now, TAL R has been transforming the figuration in his works, leading their abstraction back to a stylized and standardized form that could be described as a state just one step before actual abstraction; thus, the ornamental elements also recede significantly. This inclination towards the classical is evident.
