Many, many years ago, there lived a poor fisherman with his wife and their twelve children. They were all lazy and had no desire to work. There were so many stories told when time dragged on in the stables, by the fire, while peeling corn: the devil is outsmarted by cunning women, the wolf by the fox, and the love-stricken pastor by the farmer and his wife, who have no money for new clothes, or the Lord visits villagers to test their hospitality. These are fables and legends in the classic style, tales of brothers, lazy girls, wizards, and robbers - including variations of well-known stories like Cinderella - as well as amusing anecdotes and tales reminiscent of the Decameron.
