On the very first day, Simon finds the wallet of the enchanting Beate, whom he searches for days and for whom he gets involved in a very embarrassing incident. In the Meseta, he saves Arnold from dehydration and experiences one of the most intense moments of his journey with him. He meets the boisterous Rhinelander Körber, who repeatedly amuses with his mishaps.
