Since Darwin's major work on the "Origin of Species" (1859), the remarkable camouflage abilities of many animals have played a significant role. An immense number of individual studies focus on these phenomena, and some major scientific works compile the results of this research. Our little volume presents a selection from this wealth of strange facts and aims to provide an idea of the various body structures and specific types of behavior that can aid animals in camouflage. This selection also seeks to encourage many nature enthusiasts to make their own observations, leading to a deeper experience of nature. Our homeland is rich in phenomena that the examples in our book can highlight. Additionally, keeping animals in aquariums and terrariums today offers many new possibilities.
