Comic adventures of Tarzan. On March 15, 1931, the first colored comic page of Tarzan was published in several American newspapers. This page and the following 27 pages were illustrated by Rex Maxon. Starting September 27, 1931, Hal Foster, who later became world-famous for Prince Valiant, took over the series. He produced 293 pages for this series in the following years. In mid-1937, the legendary Burne Hogarth, known for his dynamic drawing style, became his successor. Aside from a longer break in the 1940s during which Ruben Moreira illustrated, Hogarth continued the adventure stories until 1950. Bocola is publishing the restored Tarzan Sunday pages in their original colors for the first time in ten volumes. The large hardcover format (26.3 x 35.4 cm) showcases the detailed illustrations particularly well. Each book contains about two annual volumes from the period of 1931 onward.
