Product details

The photographer, writer, publisher, and curator Alfred Stieglitz (1864-1946) was a visionary far ahead of his time. Around the turn of the century, he founded the Photo-Secession, a progressive movement dedicated to promoting creative photography. Starting in 1903, he published the avant-garde magazine Camera Work to provide a forum for the ideas of the Photo-Secession in both word and image. Camera Work was the first photography magazine that emphasized the visual aspect rather than the technical side of photography, and its illustrations, produced using the mechanical process of photogravure on Japanese paper, were of the highest quality. This book showcases all the photographs from the 50 issues of the magazine.
