It deals with the world created by humans, its technically structured forms of life, and the increasing technologization of the lifeworld. It shares these questions with philosophical anthropology as well as the philosophy of nature and history. Above all, it expands the theory of science and knowledge by inquiring about function and functioning, construction principles, and engineering knowledge, which have long attempted to operate without reference to technology. The introduction presents the key themes of the philosophy of technology and demonstrates that ethics and political philosophy must also raise new questions under the banner of technology.
