Dissociative Identity Disorder (DID), formerly known as Multiple Personality Disorder (MPD), is considered the most severe dissociative disorder known to date. Individuals affected by this disorder often experience prolonged and destructive violence at a young age, leading to a fragmentation of their personality into many different identities. The author poses the question of what constitutes a good life for these individuals. What factors promote it, and what obstructs their path? An understanding of the complex identity structures of the respondents cannot be achieved through just one of the various personalities. By directly addressing the everyday, child, protector, and perpetrator-related identities, the author equally engages with the different meaning structures within a person with Dissociative Identity Disorder.
