The Yazidis are suspected of being a "secret religion." There is talk of an obscure angel (Tawisî Melek), of writings that no one is allowed to see, and of inaccessible, mythically mystical practices. As a religious and cultural community, Yazidism is little known in Germany, and even less of what is heard about it is factually accurate. Nevertheless, a significant percentage of all Yazidis worldwide now live here – in fact, many see their future as a community more in Germany than in the Middle East.
