When women write pornography, can we rape ourselves? Linda Jaivin once asked, referring to the thesis that pornography is theory and rape is practice. The feminist pornography debate was one of the central and most controversial topics of the women's movement. Astrid Dressler approaches the subject with the first film analysis of lesbian/queer pornography in the German-speaking world in a completely new way: She discusses three American productions by Shine Louise Houston from 2005-2008 (The Crash Pad, Superfreak, and Champion) as well as the first German-speaking lesbian porn from 1994 by Manuela Kay and Silke Dunkhorst (Airport) and shows how the films play with content and representations within the genre boundaries and tell stories of lesbian sexuality.
