Every child should find their own passion. With this goal, Kurt Martin Hahn (1886-1974) became one of the great founding figures in international reform pedagogy. At his school, Schloss Salem, and later at Gordonstoun in Wales, he encouraged children and young people to climb mountains and develop projects. However, they not only learned to sail but also how to rescue people from drowning. With approaches like these, Hahn aimed to counteract the decline of human empathy, personal initiative, and the necessary diligence in carrying out tasks, shaping strong, self-determined personalities. "Give children the opportunity to discover themselves" remains the core principle of his educational concept to this day. From Kenya to Singapore, Outward Bound Schools have been established on every continent, where students from around the world are taught according to Hahn's pedagogical principles.
