Product details

Violence is an unpleasant byproduct in the context of the sex industry. However, public perceptions of its extent and severity are often based on clichés. What really happens in studios, salons, and contact bars rarely comes to light. Eva Büschi approaches the topic from the perspective of managers. In 13 detailed interviews, she inquires about professional self-understanding, work organization, and potential problems. She critically examines the statements regarding violence and violence prevention. The results show that general statements about sex work are largely meaningless. The conditions vary from precarious to luxurious, making the situation of the respondents extremely heterogeneous. They can be categorized as collegial all-rounders, helpers, authoritarian managers, and victims. More than just violence.
