In times of fully globalized financial, capital, and manufacturing networks, the demands for an internationally synchronized labor regulation have drastically increased. A multitude of multinational companies produce and sell their goods in the international economic market. This means that they are bound by sometimes very different institutional frameworks, both in terms of general economic and political development and regarding the legal concepts and systems of labor regulation. This binding presents companies with a tremendous challenge in organizing their work processes and ensuring compliance with workers' rights. A conflict looms between the increase of wealth on one hand and the socially justified participation of employees in the generated wealth on the other.
