Product details

Through his literary and personal struggle against absurdity, Albert Camus became a classic in literature and philosophy. However, absurdity is only the starting point of his thinking, as the Frenchman himself often confirmed. More significant than the first period of his work, Camus valued his second creative phase, in which a solidarity among people is invoked and established. The virtue ethics that Camus outlined and lived as a Résistance fighter has received little attention in research until now. Ulrich Frey fills this gap and delves into Camus's reflections. He asks: Does Camus succeed in building a philosophically robust bridge from the absurd individualist to the solidarity of humanity? How is a moral justification possible in nihilism at all? Frey attempts to answer these questions.
