Everyone is talking about Teddy. Teddy comes from a Texan family with grand political ambitions. The family breathes a sigh of relief when Teddy finally marries in her mid-30s and moves to Rome. The city, where the stars of Cinecittà stroll along Via Veneto, seems to Teddy like a promise of freedom. Here, she wants to leave her restless past behind and be a good diplomat's wife: glamorous, discreet, stylish, and always polite. She will charm her husband's colleagues, and no one will be able to say a word against her. Teddy initially succeeds in her endeavor; she makes new acquaintances at parties and receptions and is happy with her small role at the embassy. However, after just a few weeks, on July 4th, her new life explodes along with the fireworks in the sky. Teddy now finds herself in the midst of chaos that even impeccable manners and influential contacts can no longer manage. Teddy must take her fate into her own hands.
