The concept of need has practical relevance for all actors involved in the rehabilitation process: identifying the needs of people with disabilities to achieve social participation and planning appropriate support based on that is a central task. In light of these key functions of needs assessment and participation planning, this volume addresses the concept of need against the backdrop of new models of thinking about disability and participation. The participation needs of people with disabilities are examined from various perspectives, and guiding ethical, legal, and social standards are discussed.
