Product details

Anke Fuchs, née Nevermann (July 5, 1937 in Hamburg), is a German politician (SPD). From April to October 1982, she served as Federal Minister for Youth, Family, and Health, and from 1998 to 2002, she was Vice President of the German Bundestag. Fuchs has been a member of the SPD since 1956. Starting in 1979, she was part of the SPD Federal Executive Board. From 1986 to 1991, she was also a member of the SPD Presidium. Additionally, she served as Federal Managing Director of the SPD from 1987 to 1991. In the election for the first Saxon state parliament after the end of the GDR on October 14, 1990, she ran against Kurt Biedenkopf as the SPD's top candidate. However, she was unable to achieve her goal of becoming Minister President due to her party's poor performance; the share of second votes at 19.1% remains the best state election result for the Saxon SPD to this day.
