Ten is a sensitive photographic approach to childhood. Almost every day for an entire year, Grit Schwerdtfeger portrayed her son Lorenz, who was ten years old at the time, at his own request. This long-term study, presented in a condensed form, not only provides insight into the development of a child but also tells the story of the relationship between mother and son. It expresses closeness, but sometimes also distance, as captured in Grit Schwerdtfeger's striking portraits. The openness to the act of photographing reflects a fundamentally deep familiarity.
