Product details

Ticinese architecture first gained international recognition almost overnight in 1975 during the Zurich exhibition "Tendencies - Recent Architecture in Ticino." The landscape destruction caused by the uncontrolled building boom was already perceived by the protagonists of the Ticinese school in the 1960s. Aurelio Galfetti, Luigi Snozzi, Livio Vacchini, and soon also Mario Botta and Ivano Gianola made striking statements with their robust concrete buildings. While these could not halt urban sprawl, they could at least aestheticize it. Nevertheless, their formally highly diverse work established a widely noted regionalism in architecture that continues to resonate today. This volume collects the works of the Ticinese school. Through this reprint, this unique historical document, which is indispensable in design education, is once again made available.
