Product details

On April 14, 1912, the Titanic sank in the Atlantic. On board were numerous passengers and employees from Switzerland: including the Swiss tennis champion, the chairman of the Swiss Bank Corporation, who was pursuing a bankrupt embroidery factory owner from Arbon with a lawyer, who had fled to America. The daughter of a Zurich textile manufacturer wanted to meet her socially appropriate fiancé in New York, and a warehouseman from a Zurich department store emigrated to America with his family, along with several other Swiss. In the Titanic's kitchen, alongside a Walliser who cooked as the deputy head chef for first class, there was also a Lucerne man responsible for the ice and several waiters and assistant waiters from Poschiavo, Brissago, or the Blenio Valley. Stefan Ineichen weaves together the stories of all these passengers down to their intricacies.
