Wherever we are, it's either above or below. Water is the preferred element of Tobias Friedrich, especially the underwater world. Extreme temperatures don't bother him. He loves encounters with creatures that evoke respect or even fear in most people. He swims shoulder to shoulder with sharks and orcas, and tête-à-têtes with sea urchins and moray eels are part of his everyday life. This way, he captures spectacular images, for which he has won award after award. What fascinates Tobias Friedrich the most is what a person who usually stays above water cannot see: the company of plants and animals in the world's oceans, or even things that have no business being underwater, like shipwrecks or other objects that have lost their place in the world above water, such as a park bench in a lake, for example.
