A powerful RISC processor is specified in a hardware description language (HDL), developed hierarchically, and finally handed over to the semiconductor manufacturer as a gate-level model for production. The result is a semi-custom processor with over 100,000 gates and a computing power of up to 40 MIPS. The book, which includes a diskette, also provides an in-depth introduction to the HDL Verilog.
