Product details
On December 26, 2004, at 8 a.m. local time, the world's most powerful earthquake in the last forty years struck in the Indian Ocean off the coast of Sumatra. With a magnitude of 9.1 to 9.3 on the Richter scale, the ocean trembled and triggered a tsunami. This tsunami shook the coasts of Asia and spread throughout the Indian Ocean. Immediately following the disaster, one of the largest fundraising campaigns in the world began. With the financial support of international aid organizations, Thailand has a unique opportunity to make changes in the structure and marketing of tourism. Issues such as wastewater and waste problems caused by mass tourism, water shortages, difficulties with wastewater drainage, and ecological misdevelopments from the past could now be addressed. The book aims to document the various strategic shifts regarding tourism.
