Abstract: In October 1945, less than three months after the atomic explosions over Hiroshima and Nagasaki ushered in the age of nuclear apocalypse, U.S. President Harry Truman ordered "Operation Totality." General Dwight D. Eisenhower was tasked with developing the plan for the proposed atomic attack on the then Soviet Union. Later that same month, the U.S. Air Force began practicing the dropping of 20 to 30 atomic bombs on Soviet cities. The first radius was to be secured by interceptors covering the Mediterranean region from Gibraltar to Suez. The second radius was designated for B-29 bombers to conduct airstrikes against Moscow, Crimea, Greece, Turkey, and the Middle East. The third radius allowed long-range interceptors to engage the B-3 bombers armed with atomic bombs.
