The study of Attic sarcophagi featuring battle scenes (Amazonomachy, battle, and Epinausimachy sarcophagi) presents the largest collection of Attic mythological sarcophagi. The Attic sarcophagi hold the status of a leading genre for Greek sculpture of the Imperial period. Thus, the findings related to developments in tectonics, ornamentation, iconography, and style significantly enhance the understanding of Imperial Attic sculpture in both quantitative and qualitative terms; they can serve as a foundation for the exploration of all genres of Imperial Greek sculpture.
