The bathroom may be the last private place we can retreat to. It is the space for peace and intimacy - and especially for a woman, it is the place where she hides her beauty secrets and can transform herself anew every day. Now, a hundred women are giving a glimpse into their mysterious chambers. The idea for this book came to the editor Friederike Schilbach during a vacation: "I visited a friend in Apulia and noticed that her bathroom resembled her character: airy, minimalist, beautiful. Before I left, I asked her for a photo of it and a few sentences about it." This sparked a whole project. Friederike Schilbach asked actresses like Lena Dunham, writers Erica Jong and Lily Brett, and many other women if they would share a look into their bathrooms. In 2016, an exhibition emerged from this.
