The Copernican Revolution
German, 2013Product details
The history of the Copernican Revolution has often been written about, but to my knowledge, not from the perspective and to the extent intended here. Many individual events are hidden behind the catchphrase of the turn or revolution. At its core was a transformation of mathematical astronomy, but it also brought about conceptual changes in cosmology, physics, philosophy, and religion. Individual aspects of the Copernican Revolution have been repeatedly examined, and without the resulting treatises, this book could not have been written. The variety of upheavals exceeds the capabilities of any single scholar studying the original sources. However, both specialized studies and the simplified representations built upon them necessarily miss one of the most important and fascinating aspects.
