This is the fully illustrated Volume 2 (of 2). The Count of Monte Cristo is perhaps the most famous adventure novel by Alexandre Dumas. The story takes place in the period after the French Revolution, from 1814 to 1838. Napoleon's star has set, and the restoration under Kings Louis XVIII and Charles X has taken place. This is followed by the July Revolution of 1830, during which the "Citizen King" Louis-Philippe ascends to the throne.
