Eventually, a person reaches the point where they share their ideas with others, communicating them. "By writing, I activate my relationships, connections, and threads within a non-human environment that we have always been part of," describes philosopher Bettina Schmitz this process of exchange with others and with the world. Once the thoughts are "in the world," society must collect, categorize, and process them. At this point, the sciences emerge as the collective memory for complex ideas.
