A sanctuary in Veneto has yielded one of the richest finds of ancient garment pins. The sanctuary dedicated to the goddess Reitia in Este-Baratella is the most significant cult site of ancient Veneto. Since its discovery, around 19,000 archaeological objects have been recovered, including 500 brooches from the excavations conducted between 1880 and 1916. This largest find complex south of the Alps is comparable in its spectrum to the series of brooches from the northern Alpine and Gallic regions, demonstrating the far-reaching influence of the Este-Baratella sanctuary beyond regional borders. The material is thus of great importance for the Celtic world, as it allows for extensive analyses of the brooches within the distribution area of the Late Iron Age La Tène culture.
