A poetry reading at the hotel restaurant "Pancomedia." There, Sylvia Kessel, a young writer, meets the small publisher Zacharias Werner. He is trying to advance the publication of a novel by his beloved and is seeking patrons, including the so-called brother-in-law Oswald, who throws pebbles at his lover out of boredom, and the wealthy Ina Schmöling-Knecht, who seduces the publisher but ultimately does not want to invest. At "Pancomedia," relationship problems are openly aired, projects are planned and discarded. Botho Strauss offers a revealing look at the cultural scene and its participants.
