A poor miller makes a phone call to the devil, who wants to make him rich in exchange for what lies behind his mill. The miller, thinking it concerns the apple tree, agrees to the deal, unaware that his daughter is also behind the mill. For her, a long journey begins. 2012 is the official Brothers Grimm Year, as it marks the 200th anniversary of the famous fairy tale collection by the Grimms, which continues to have a significant influence on how fairy tales are told and remembered today. The Hamburg illustrator Karin Kraemer has also taken on a Grimm fairy tale and illustrated "The Girl Without Hands" in her own unique way. The result is less of a classic fairy tale book and more of an artistic approach that allows for a lot of room for interpretation. The jury of the 1st Hamburg Graphic Novel Promotion Award AFKAT awarded her a special prize for this work.
