A variety of the short stories in this collection can be related to the supposed natural law of eating and being eaten, as evidenced in the microcosm by the biological waste disposal in the Golgi apparatus—named after an Italian researcher. Since this appears to be a universal and all-encompassing phenomenon, the content and themes of these pieces do not limit themselves solely to the natural, material, and physical, but also encompass the surreal, immaterial, and metaphysical, with the boundaries often flowing seamlessly into one another. A suspended, unclear, and unstable state often tips over in subtle ways or proves to be inexplicably foreign. This uncertainty is also consciously contributed to by the addition of sources and materials that, while conveying authenticity, can nonetheless mislead due to their lack of attribution and incompleteness.
