The Great Himalaya Trail in Nepal is one of the longest and arguably most challenging trails in the world. In some sections, it reaches an altitude of nearly 6,000 meters. At the same time, the trail serves as a lifeline for millions of people and is an ancient trade route. The GHT is a UNESCO World Heritage site and is in danger. Increasingly, roads are replacing the trail, bringing civilization closer than ever. As a result, the daily lives of people, which have changed little for centuries, are facing a tremendous transformation. Journalist and runner Peter Hinze has covered over 1,800 running kilometers on the trail. Divided into two trips, he traversed the roof of the world in a total of 87 days - from Kanchenjunga to Makalu, through the Everest region, Langtang, Manaslu, Tibet, the Annapurna area, and the Kingdom of Mustang to the Indian border in the west.
