Product details
Before the famous Serbian architect, writer, and former mayor of Belgrade, Bogdan Bogdanovic, had to flee into exile from Slobodan Milosevic and his followers, he spent years writing messages and letters to himself. He placed these papers in a laundry detergent box covered with dark green wallpaper that could not be opened. This was meant to keep his thoughts out of the reach of self-censorship. Now, Bogdan Bogdanovic reveals the mystery of "The Green Box." And along with him, the cheerful melancholic, one is astonished to find that he has juxtaposed lyrical records about birds, cats, and stray dogs, casual observations about the absurd details of everyday life, and piles of notes about dreams against a backdrop of a time marked by violence and persecution.
