Product details

How did the Monastery Chamber behave during the Nazi era? The Monastery Chamber of Hanover experienced remarkable continuity from 1931 to 1955: President Albrecht Stalmann led the institution through two political system changes. For the first time, this period in the history of the Lower Saxony special authority is now being critically examined. The contributors reveal what scope for action a regional administrative authority had during National Socialism and what behavioral demands it faced. Particularly interesting in this context is how the management personnel acted and positioned themselves. The post-war years are also coming into focus. A memorandum written by President Stalmann regarding the Nazi era shaped the perception of the institution's history for decades. Ultimately, the question arises to what extent.
