The history of the 10th Infantry Division
German, 2005Product details
Initially under disguise, the establishment of a new division began in 1933. Two years later, it was completed, and the 10th Infantry Division was formed. With the invasion of Austria in 1938, its long journey began, taking it to nearly all war locations: the campaign against Poland in 1939, the campaign against France a year later, and finally the war against the Soviet Union from 1941 to 1945. This marked the end for many soldiers, who ended up in Soviet captivity, including the author, retired Lieutenant General August Schmidt, who was released after ten and a half years and decided to write a documentation about his division. After extensive research and with the help of his former comrades, he collected many parts of war diaries, individual reports, sketches, and photographs, whose often personal character speaks directly to the reader.
